Pretty Guest Room... in progress

This fabulous room, we call "Anne's room," or the upper bedroom.  Anne (my mother-in-laws) has full control of this room, however, she let's me do lots of work in there.  :)

The room has tons of character, lots of paneling, a wood floor hidden under stained cheap carpet, extra windows, a tiny-tiny bathroom, and an extra closet.  We have it in pretty decent shape now, but it was horror!

This is the large closet.  It had a disintegrated accordion door. Very dirty walls, and nasty weather sealing foam all over it.

This foam stuff is as hard as a rock and nearly impossible to strip off once it's hard.  It had been there for months!  (bitter ranting... you could have wiped this stuff off with your finger when it was wet... errrrr.  It as all over the house in every crack and cranny.  It took hours and hours to scrape off!)

I scraped it out with a razor scraper, screw drivers, and pretty much tried anything.

More scraping!

I sealed it with paintable silicone.

Then, it was time to paint.  This is a messy picture of first coat of paint.

More paint.  Oh so much painting.  There are so many corners, moldings, window frames, extra doors, stairs, ceiling beams, and the floor boards that it seems endless.

And because Miss Anne loves to watch me work, she had an idea for a lovely bright touch.  Down the seams, we are adding white stripes.  (still in progress)

Then we ripped out the awful carpet.  Boy, that's some tough grunt work!  I am not sure what is worse, pulling the carpet out or digging up the tack board.

We are fairly certain hat we can restore this floor to some amount of glory.

Overall the room is so much better.  The floors will have to wait a little while.  There are more pressing matters in the house.  We are concentrating on walls and floors so that we can "move in."

Much more to come!  Thanks for checking it out!
